At the sound of the Captain's whistle on Saturday, Jan. 18, 1997, the world where dreams can come true was brought to life as "Noblesse Salutes Disney." Krewe de la Noblesse held its 12th annual ball at the Lake Charles Civic Center Coliseum, Lake Charles, Louisiana.
As guests entered, they were greeted by wooden Disney characters before going through an oversized replica of Mickey's head. Participants entered the coliseum via Main Street U.S.A. where they were treated to a visual tour of four distinct lands of Disney. Tinkerbell spread her magic fairy dust from the center perch as the magic of the evening ensued.
The McNeese State University color guard posted the national and state colors to the Michigan State University's rendition of the "Star Spangled Banner."
Making
their final appearances were the 1996 Royal Court of Noblesse
Treasure of the Nile, King Gabriel Noblesse XI, Michael D. Giles and Queen Ashley
Noblesse XI, Margaret Ellis and Dukes and
Duchesses, Bill and Levonne O. Simons, Calvin and Madeline
Fleniken, David and Pamela Thompson, John Peter Scott, and Dr. Sandra J.
Leder.
After the lighting of the Krewe crest, Mystery and Magic reined
as Captain Joey Angers made his
spectacular entrance as Merlin the Magician. Through an entry of
fog and fire, Merlin the Magician entranced the audience and
weaved his enchanted spell. With staff raised, he paraded and
saluted the audience and assumed his position on stage. His long
tunic was of royal blue and black velvet and satin, accented with
gold and silver sequined appliques of stars, moons and lightning
bolts trimmed in Rhinestones. His collar of royal blue and silver
had gold sequined appliques, rhinestones and was backed with
large black ostrich plumes. The headpiece of lightning bolts and
stars with matching cape complemented his attire.
Captain
Joey Angers is the regional manager of McJunkin Corporation, and
is a member of the Chamber of Commerce and Louisiana Industrial
Chemical Alliance. He and his wife Julie have three
children, Joey, Nicole, and Thomas.
The 1996 Board of Directors of Krewe de la Noblesse were

husband, Anthony Fazzio;and Krewe
Representative Margaret Ellis, escorted by her
son, David
Anderson.
Debutantes presented were Erin Rene Broussard, daughter of Barbara and Jack Chiasson; Heather Joy Duhon, daughter of Angela Duhon and granddaughter of Ellsworth and Deanne Duhon; Mitzi Layne Moss, daughter of Dr. John and Brenda Masse; and Brandi Nicole Sonnier, daughter of Ray and Carol Sonnier.
Royal
Entertainment was Noblesses rendition of Disney's electric light
parade, choreographed by Cindy Vaughn of Cindy's School
of Dance. Master of Ceremonies for the evening was Russ Bordelon. Nearly 1,200
people attended the ball.
Representing "Noblesse Salutes Disney," King Gabriel
Noblesse XII, Keith Jagneaux, made his entrance
escorted by his son, David Jagneaux. King Gabriel was
attired in a white satin and velvet tunic and tights and trimmed
with sequined appliques and rhinestones. His fur trimmed mantle
was of gold lame bearing the Krewe's crest of purple, green and
gold sequined applique. The gold sequin trimmed collar over a
gold lace overlay was backed with white ostrich plumes. The gold
crown and scepter, which featured Italian rhinestones, completed
the king's costume.
Keith is
the 35 year old son of Dr. and Mrs. Willie Jagneaux. He is the
owner/broker of Jagneaux and Associates Realty. He is the past
president of the Greater Calcasieu Board of Realtors and has
served as a state director for the Louisiana Realtors Association
for the past four years. Keith is also past president of Mardi
Gras Inc. and the new executive director of Mardi Gras of
Imperial Calcasieu, Inc. Keith considers being married 17 years
his greatest success. His hobbies include golfing, coaching U-6
Soccer, Mardi Gras and his Jacuzzi.
Queen Ashley Noblesse XII, Ellen Jagneaux, entered on the
arm of her son Adam Jagneaux. The Queen's son Jason Jagneaux was her attendant.
Her form-fitted white satin gown was lavishly trimmed with
rhinestones and gold sequined appliques. The gown featured a
princess neckline trimmed in rhinestones and three quarter length
sleeves with bugle beads. The collar and train were a match mate
of the King's. Long satin white gloves, gold crown and scepter
completed her costume.
Ellen is
the 35 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Allen Rogers. They have three
sons Adam, David and Jason. She stays busy
with their schools and sports activities. Her hobbies are
interior designing, crafts and shopping.
Representing the Duke and Duchess of Frontier Land were Marie Fruge and Dave Meacham. Their matching
costumes of emerald green and peach velvet were accented with
gold and brown sequined appliques. Her fitted gown featured a
square neckline trimmed in rhinestones and bugle beads and an
eight-foot train. The Duke wore a matching tunic, cape and brown
knee-high moccasins. Their large headpieces had a sequined
applique of a thunderbird and was backed with orange feathers and
beige ostrich plumes.
Marie is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs Burchman Fruge, of Lake Charles. She is a graduate of Barbe High School and attended McNeese State University. Presently she is the secretary-treasurer of Louisiana Escort and Permit Service, in Lake Charles, a member of the Lake Charles Jaycees, and Our Lady Queen of Heaven Church. Marie enjoys traveling, crafts, and gardening.
Duke Dave
Meacham was born and educated in Northern Ohio. He has been a
resident of Lake Charles since 1977. While in the military
service, Dave served two tours of duty in Vietnam and accumulated
more than 1500 flying hours. His military awards include the
Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, two awards of the Bronze Star and
seven air medals. His last military assignment was as the
director of plans training and security for the third largest
U.S. Army Military reservation in the world. Dave's interests
include aviation, computers, and ballroom dancing. Dave is the
BBS SysOp for the Southwest Louisiana Personal Computer Club and
the secretary for the Tempo Ball Room Dance Club. He is employed
by Conoco as a SME.
Portraying the Duke and Duchess of the Pirates of Adventure Land
were Bob
Green and Barbara Harless Chiasson. Their matching
costumes of red, black and white satin were accented with gold
and silver sequined appliques and trimmed in rhinestones. The
Duchess' gown featured a rounded neckline, long gathered sleeves,
fitted bodice and a large white ruffle on her top skirt. The
Duke's long fitted jacket and matching cape was complete with a
white satin trousers and black boots. They wore large skull and
cross bones headpieces backed with white ostrich plumes.
Barbara is the general manager of Harless, Inc. Limestone and Sand Distributors. She married the love of her life, Jack Chiasson, on Valentines Day this past year. They have six children together - Mrs. Dennis "Carolyn" Simon, Jerry Scott Broussard, Erin Broussard, Randy Chiasson of Simi Valley, Calif., Mrs. Mitch "Missy" McGee of Beaumont, Texas and Lance Chiasson. They also have four grandchildren - Kasey Simon, Blaine Simon, Shalay Chiasson and Meagan McGee. Barbara's hobbies are bridge, scuba diving, and her new love, fishing.
Duke Bob
Green is married to Jerri Harless Green, sister of his
duchess. He is the service manager of Lake Charles Yamaha
Kawasaki, past Master of Lodge 424, member of the Scottish Rite
and Habibi Shrine Temple. He has four sons, Robbie, Troy, Jamie, and Nicholas. His hobbies are
scuba diving, golf, and motorcycles.
Representing the Duke and Duchess of Fantasy Land were Leo and Heather Reddoch. They wore
costumes befitting any nobility made of fuchsia and turquoise
satin trimmed in gold and turquoise sequined appliques and
rhinestones. Her off-shoulder gown had long bell-shaped sleeves
trimmed in fur and was fitted at the bodice with a square
neckline trimmed in rhinestones. She wore a matching headpiece
and gold crown backed with large turquoise ostrich plumes. The
Duke's tunic had a matching cape with large diamond shaped gold
and turquoise sequined appliques and matching headpiece. He wore
tights and gold boots to complete his ensemble.
Duke Leo owns and operates Reddoch Land Surveying, Inc. and Unishippes of Louisiana, Inc. He is on the Board of Directors of Family and Youth Counseling Agency - Chairman of the Building and Maintenance Committee, second vice president of Mardi Gras of Imperial Calcasieu Board of Directors, member of the Buccaneers and Krewe de Lac. His hobbies are hunting, sailing, golf, fishing, skiing and cooking.
Heather is
a certified public accountant. She is currently working as
controller of the family businesses as well as operating a small
guest house and managing the couple's rental property. She is a
member of several professional accounting organizations,
volunteer with Hospice of St. Patrick Hospital, Vestry member as
well as treasurer for Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. Heather
enjoys playing the piano, reading, running, writing peotry,
travel and shopping. They have two sons, Jason and Grant.
The Duke and Duchess of Tomorrow Land, Kenny and Valerie Norwood, made their
entrance attired in matching costumes of deep purple and silver
satin accented with appliques of stars in solver sequins and
trimmed in gold. Her princess neckline fitted gown featured an
attached cape lined in silver. He wore a tunic, cape and matching
tights. Their headpieces had a large sequined applique of the
space shuttle and were backed with large white ostrich plumes.
Kenny is a
lifelong resident of Lake Charles, and Valerie is from
Pennsylvania. They have four children Steven, Stephanie, and Sarah of Lake Charles
and Valerie of Washington D.C.
They are also the proud grandparents of four grandchildren.
Co-owners of Giovanni Mini-Storage and also the developers of
Contraband Isle. They enjoy traveling, shopping and of course
Mardi Gras.
